A Grande Mistake

We are very happy to bring you the first post of ND Polishticks! We hope to update this blog as much as we can regarding North Dakota politics (yawn) as well as important national stories, or ones that we can make fun of at least. If you are a conservative, odds are you probably will not like this blog, which is fine because to me you do not have an invitation to this party. So go throw yourself in a corner and wipe those greedy little tears with a $20 dollar bill. Democrats won't necessarily be off limits to fodder on this blog either, because I refuse to discriminate on those who need to be poked fun at on an occasional basis.

We continue to work on making this site as pretty as possible and bringing you stories that will make you think, make you laugh, and more importantly make some mad in North Dakota. With that said, enjoy our first post!

---

Is there a coincidence that extreme gusts of wind in North Dakota (specifically in her city of her legislative district) and State Representative Bette Grande's announcement for the United States House of Representatives happened at the same time? I think not. The these heavy breezes are a notice to us that she is riding her prized wooden broomstick throughout North Dakota preaching (yes preaching) her message about Washington politics.

The only thing more muffled than her message is the cries of the liberals in North Dakota being drowned out my the sound of blast from her broom's tailpipes. Grande can be described as the quintessential social and fiscal conservative voting against diversity, progress, and not to mention higher education (bills to help NDSU and it's students) since 1997. She has said that her focus is on reducing spending and resolving the national debt without raising taxes (probably on the rich she means)....I can't help but think that this is the standard template for a republican bid for office.

Her entrance into the race makes TWO republican candidates vying for the lone spot in the house, with the other GOP candidate being Brian Kalk (whose name is probably still mispronounced and the butt of many jokes in this state). Kalk's achievements and credentials make a very formidable candidate in any race....just ask two-time PSC candidate and democratic sheep led to slaughter/default candidate Cheryl Bergian who lost a second bid for PSC to Kalk in the 2008 election.

Grande's entrance into the race leaves the question "is Kalk not close-minded enough?".....sorry I mean "is Kalk not conservative enough to the the GOP's candidate in 2012?" (simple mistake). The half-a-century old Grande has said that having more people enter the campaign will make it a better race....which hopefully translates into a Mortal Kombat, division of the party, political fight to the death that we all hope for. Of course, that is a glass half full observation because in North Dakota, republicans won't attack and be mean to each other...just everyone else. To make the plot thicker, State Republican Party Chairman Stan Stein (seriously?) has said that he knows of at least three other republibots who are considering bids. We will be sure to keep you posted as we receive details.
